Blog 2!! Dawn and Michael

So here it is…the long awaited sequel to my first ever blog post……blog number 2! Contain your excitement ladies and gentleman.

These shots are from my last wedding which took place on the 29th December 2022 at the beautiful Swancar Farm Country House in Trowell, Nottingham.
A full day shoot for me, which means 11 hours worth of coverage for the bride and groom. During a full day shoot, I’ll take photo’s of the bridal party getting ready all the way into the evening….cake cutting, first dance and beyond.

As is usual I’d had a zoom call with the bride and groom a couple of weeks before the wedding just to go through timings for the day; what I’d be doing on the day and just discussing any specific ideas or requirements that the bride and groom had from a photography perspective.

When the zoom call started, I was taken aback to see that the groom had a very bloodshot eye and was struggling to see. It transpired that he’d suffered a detached retina about 10 days before and was waiting for it to heal. The bride was also not feeling great as she was poorly with flu so didn’t want to show herself, naturally enough and so I was talking to her off camera. I felt so bad for them both so close to their wedding!
I was concerned primarily that the grooms eye might be impacted by my use of flash on the day, but he was quick to reassure me that it would be fine. The last thing that I wanted to was further aggravate his injury.

On the day, the bride was getting ready at the hotel and that made it easier. Sometimes I have to race the bride from one location to another on the wedding day and it makes it so much easier when everything happens in one location.
The grooms’ eye was still painful and he was struggling to see, but it was no longer bloodshot and the flash didn’t affect him thank goodness.

I got some beautiful shots which the bride and groom loved. Swancar is such a gorgeous venue with lots of little nooks and crannies and interesting spots in which to take photographs.

With this wedding I stayed pretty late, til about 10pm and what was nice about being around for so long is that you get to see people really let their hair down.

Weddings after all are a celebration and about having fun!
